I received this letter yesterday from a lawyer in Venezuela. Socialism kills. Say it to yourself a few dozen times, and pray for those trapped there.
Hello, I was reading your article about Venezuela.
Venezuelans are certainly starving. The Venezuelan people are fighting against the Venezuelan government that every day is murdering the people who march to protest, to ask for a new government where we can get food. Insecurity is a serious problem, but what good is citizen security if people are on the street dying of hunger? So the people’s marches are to demand a change of government, because this government of President Maduro is starving the people of Venezuela.
The government has soldiers and police officers who are killing people on the street. In supermarkets sometimes we should queue up for 10 hours to buy a pound of food nothing, just a pound of food. It is a difficult situation, serious and we are desperate. If you can, after 10 hours enter a Supermarket: you can not buy many things, just a pound of food for you and your family, because there is no food in Venezuela. The food that can exist on the street outside the supermarkets is very expensive.
I am a lawyer, and my salary is 20 dollars a month, with that I can only eat once a day. The salaries of attorneys are the highest in Venezuela. Some people earn $10 in the month as wages. A lunch can cost between 3 and 4 dollars.
It is important that the whole world know this: The Government of Venezuela is a dictatorship and we are starving.
Thank you.
